Ace Fire Defense Urges Wildfire Readiness Across LA and Ventura Counties, Launches New Backwash Hose Kit

WEST HILLS, Calif. — Oct. 22, 2026

Following a Red Flag Warning that swept Los Angeles and Ventura counties this month, Ace Fire Defense is calling on homeowners in wildfire-prone communities to check their water-access gear before the next wind event — and is expanding its own product line with a new backwash hose kit built to complement residential water-pump setups.

This Fall's Fire Weather

On Oct. 16–17, the National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning covering most of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, including the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, and the Ventura County coast and inland valleys. The warning cited offshore winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, and relative humidity as low as 8 to 15 percent — conditions the agency said were favorable for "rapid fire growth and extreme fire behavior" if a new fire were to start. Conditions like these are common through the fall across Southern California's wildland-urban interface, and typically recur several times before seasonal rain arrives. Ace Fire Defense recommends homeowners in these areas:

  • Locate the fire hydrant nearest their home and confirm it's accessible
  • Contact their local fire department and water district to ask what's permitted and whether hands-on training is available
  • Confirm their evacuation route in advance, and leave immediately if authorities order it

The season isn't over. On Oct. 1, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors held a briefing warning residents to prepare for what officials called a potentially "rocky" stretch ahead, as fire-weather risk gives way to this winter's rain — bringing its own hazards of flooding, debris flows, and landslides in areas scarred by recent fires. (source) The takeaway for homeowners is the same either way: know your risk, stage your gear, and don't wait for the next alert to find out you're not ready.

New: 2" PVC Backwash Hose Kit

Ace Fire Defense this week added a 2" PVC Backwash Hose Kit to its lineup — a wire-reinforced suction hose, a brass 2" NPT-to-1½" NST/NH thread adapter, and a carbon-steel backwash filter, sized to pair with the company's Honda WH20 pool pump. The kit is designed for homeowners building out a complete pool-to-property water transfer system, a common setup among wildfire-prep households that rely on a backyard pool as a reserve water source.

The kit is available now at acefiredefense.com.

"Every fall, we get the same week: hot, dry, and windy, and everyone asks the same question — am I ready?" said Sherwin Ross, owner of Ace Fire Defense. "The honest answer for most homes is no, not yet. A hydrant you've never located, a hose that's still in the box — none of that helps you on the day it matters. We built this company so that answer can be yes."
